Exercising at home: Being physically active is a significant demand for our body to stay healthy. Regular exercise comes with a lot of benefits, both physical and mental. These can range from blood pressure control to reducing the risk of diseases like heart failure and obesity. There are also many psychological benefits associated with regular exercise. May it be a short walk daily or going to the gym, exercise bring a lot to improve our mental health. Some of the benefits of regular exercise are:

Right now, we all are confined to our homes. This is beneficial for our health amid the coronavirus pandemic as it helps reduce the spread. But this is not a reason to lay off exercising. Various researches show that having a sedentary lifestyle has detrimental effects on mental and physical health. Our immune system tends to work better when we exercise regularly. This helps our immune system in flushing out harmful bacteria and viruses from lungs, and improve the protective cells count in the body. As a result, exercising at home and keeping fit is essential during these times.
We need all the weapons to fight this pandemic together, and boosting immunity is one of them .in addition, coronavirus is linked to higher illness rates in people suffering from co-morbidities like high blood pressure, heart diseases, and diabetes, exercising regularly is now more critical than ever. This not only improves immunity but also reduces comorbidities, thus making it necessary to exercise adequately.
Some of the ways we can utilize this time at home are by adopting healthy eating habits, having adequate sleep to help the body recover, and working out at home. There are numerous home-based workouts available on the internet! This makes exercising at home simple and enjoyable
The elements of exercise
Some may think exercising at home may be difficult. However, it does not just mean to hop on the treadmill and run for an hour straight. To exercise for better health, one should be aware of all of its elements and its benefits. Fitness training routines consist of different elements like:
- stretching and warm-up,
- resistance & strength training,
- balance training,
- core exercises
Each of these elements targets a different aspect of our fitness. For instance, while strength training focuses our muscle building, warm up, and dynamic stretches before strength training help warm up our tendons and ligaments, so they don’t get injured. Core exercises help improve core strength so we could be better at strength training. Similarly, aerobics help increases stamina, which in turn improves overall fitness. All of these elements are related, and therefore any fitness routine should incorporate these elements together.
