TMS maintenance & aftercare

TMS Maintenance Treatment

At The rTMS Centre, we take great pride in providing personalised care throughout the entire treatment journey, with the wellbeing and progress of each individual at the centre of our approach.

During a course of TMS treatment, we conduct regular daily and weekly reviews to understand how each person is responding. These reviews allow us to identify changes in symptoms, cognitive functioning, sleep, mood and overall wellbeing, helping us develop an individualised plan for maintaining progress after the initial treatment course has been completed.

As part of our comprehensive follow-up programme, we conduct a detailed six-month review to evaluate progress and determine whether any additional treatment may be beneficial. However, we recognise that some individuals may benefit from support before this review. Although TMS can produce meaningful and sustained improvements, maintenance sessions may be recommended in certain cases to help reinforce and preserve the benefits achieved during the initial course of treatment.

For individuals who have completed a full course of TMS, we offer personalised maintenance options, which may include:

  • Periodic TMS maintenance sessions

  • Appropriate home-based brain stimulation techniques

  • A combined approach using in-clinic TMS alongside structured home-based support

Where appropriate, home-based neuromodulation may be introduced during or following the treatment course. The selection of any home-based technique is guided by the individual’s treatment response, ongoing needs and the findings from their regular reviews.

By combining personalised TMS maintenance with appropriate home-based brain stimulation strategies, our aim is to support the durability of treatment benefits, encourage greater self-management and help individuals maintain their progress over the longer term.
